As an Accounts Supervisor, you will oversee a varied portfolio of clients, acting as their main point of contact and ensuring high-quality delivery across accounts, tax, VAT, and advisory matters. You will review work prepared by junior team members, prepare or review financial statements, and support managers and directors with technical queries and deadline management.

Job Description

  • Review bookkeeping and VAT submissions prepared by the team.
  • Prepare or review management accounts, financial statements, and sole trader accounts.
  • Prepare or review corporation tax returns, with involvement in personal tax compliance.
  • Provide clear, confident communication to clients regarding tax, accounting matters, and general financial queries.
  • Manage a small client portfolio, acting as the first point of contact.
  • Liaise with clients regarding deadlines, required information, and workflow updates.
  • Assist senior leadership with deadlines across Accounts, VAT, Tax, Payroll, and Company Secretarial.
  • Support the drafting of advisory reports under the guidance of managers/directors.



The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in an accountancy practice.
  • Professionally qualified (ACA / ACCA) or equivalent.
  • Experience as a Senior or Supervisor managing a small portfolio.
  • Strong experience preparing company accounts (FRS 102 1A) and corporate tax returns.
  • Awareness of personal tax filings and ability to review or prepare VAT returns.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build strong, trusted client relationships.
  • Competent with MS Office and cloud accounting packages (Xero essential; knowledge of Iris, Alpha, QuickBooks or Sage an advantage).
