We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join a growing team near Reading, supporting financial operations within the engineering industry. This permanent role requires a skilled professional to manage financial records, support the junior members of the team and handle transactional finance processes. This role will require someone willing to be on site 5 days a week and handle transactional duties as well as month end processes.

Job Description

The Management Accountant duties will include:

  • Support the Project Finance Manager to ensure that monthly and annual responsibilities are satisfied in line with expectations.
  • Involvement in transactional duties eg purchase order & invoice processing, expenses, weekly bank reconciliations.
  • Take ownership of the monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Preparation and posting of monthly journal (accruals, prepayments, fixed assets etc).
  • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Assist the annual tax, accounting, statuatory accounts and audit year-end processes.
  • Assist in execution of activities detailed on monthly to-do lists (eg VAT returns, CIS returns)
  • Adhoc analysis and support to the wider finance team
  • Support the junior members of the team with queries and act as an escalation point before the management levels

The Successful Applicant

The successful Management Accountant should have/be:

  • Actively be studying ACCA or CIMA ideally to the Part Qualified or Finalist level.
  • Demonstrable experience in Management Accounting.
  • Strong knowledge in month end-processes and transactional finance.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Flexible approach to deal with a rapidly growing and developing environment.
  • Be able to drive due to location of the role.
