Payroll Officer

This role manages the full end-to-end weekly and monthly payroll process for a busy, fast-paced operation of around 500 employees. You'll ensure accuracy, compliance, and excellent employee service while supporting continuous improvement within the HR/Payroll function.

Job Description

  • Manage end-to-end weekly and monthly payroll for c.500 employees
  • Process timesheets, mileage claims, overtime and payroll adjustments
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with legislation
  • Process starters, leavers, rate changes, deductions and AOE orders
  • Submit RTI, FPS, EPS and ensure timely PAYE payments
  • Produce payroll reports and reconcile pension contributions
  • Coordinate with HR, Finance, IT and operational managers
  • Respond to employee payroll queries with professionalism
  • Support year-end activities including P60s and P11Ds
  • Contribute to payroll process improvements and projects

The Successful Applicant

  • Extensive end-to-end payroll experience (weekly + monthly)
  • Strong experience using SAGE Payroll and SAGE Accounts
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and numerical ability
  • Up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Confident communicator with a helpful, approachable manner
  • Discreet and trusted to work with sensitive information
  • CIPP or AAT payroll qualifications desirable but not essential
