Our client, a leading manufacturer undergoing significant transformation, is urgently seeking an Assistant Accountant/Management Accountant on a temporary basis to cover a critical operational finance gap in Birchwood. This role is ideal for a proactive, commercially minded individual who can hit the ground running and provide essential month-end financial support within a fast-paced, evolving environment for 12 months+

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the month-end close process with a focus on operational and commercial analysis
  • Drive transactional finance activities including balance sheet reconciliations, sales and margin reporting, and warehouse cost analysis
  • Collaborate closely with the wider finance team (including Management Accountants and Finance Controllers) to deliver accurate and insightful reports
  • Apply a critical eye to financial processes and data, recommending improvements to existing workflows
  • Support wider business initiatives by providing timely, accurate financial insights to operations and commercial teams



The Successful Applicant

A successful Assistant Accountant should have:

  • Intermediate experience in month end processes
  • Strong Excel skills essential (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUP) to analyse finance data.
  • Experience with ERP systems (desirable)
  • Currently studying (e.g. ACCA/CIMA) beneficial but not essential for the temp role will consider experience
  • A critical thinker with a hands-on approach, comfortable in a dynamic environment experiencing change and transformation
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid working model
